Well, we visited another school this weekend. Not one on his top-three list, but I think it’s moving up the chain now. (If you haven’t read my previous post, College Search, you might want to for the background information.)
We went to Texas A&M - Commerce. (My son is a huge UT fan, so I was surprised he was willing to even look at A&M - he explained that Commerce isn’t the Aggies, so it’s ok. LOL
I watched the HBO Films Recount - The Story of the 2000 Presidential Election last night. Though it was not the first film I've seen on the subject, I was just as moved by it as I was by the original fiasco. I was even surprised to find out new aspects of the situation I had not heard or read about previously.
As Election Day approaches, I hope and pray that nothing of this sort occurs this year. My wish for election reform is renewed, though I know that there is no hope for anything meaningful to happen before this election, and probably not in my lifetime. I'm sick to death of it. I get daily emails warning of Barack Obama's ties to Islam, and the dangers we face because of them. I guess this is like the fears of communism during the Cold War.
The latest email I received is "What Does Obama Read?" with a photo of him holding a book. The image of the book has been enhanced to show the title: "The Post-American World" by Fareed Zakaria
I've been helping my son - a high school senior - with his search for a college. Son number 1 wasn't this much trouble - he had one choice, which after visiting he decided against. He chose a local community college instead.
Son number 2, however, is an honor student, a football player, a musician, and so much more
I was more impressed with Gov. Palin than I thought I would be, but not enough to change my mind. I would have voted for Sen. Biden for president, so there wasn't really much convincing needed there. I'd like to see what others thought about both - without any name calling or abusive comments, please. What issues are important to you, and how do you think the candidates did in answering questions about those issues? What did you like or dislike about their performances tonight?
I'm wondering if Gov. Palin was a cheerleader when she was younger. She smiled the entire night. Nothing wrong with that, just not what I'm used to seeing. I think she did a good job of connecting with "regular folks," but her stance on the issues that count to me didn't cut it. Probably, I'd like her better without John McCain. I just don't want four more years of the same
