I'm so upset...but it's nothing a big cash payout won't cure!

So the most expensive divorce ever recorded in Australian history is going down right now in Adelaide. The facts of the case are so outlandish I think even Dr. Phil would say, “Ya’ll are on your own.”
The wife of an apparently filthy-rich Hong Kong based business man was asking for a mere $278,000 a month in spousal maintenance. If I’ve done my math correctly, and there’s no guarantee on that, she would be receiving $3.3 million in just the first year alone; which also happens to be the price of the modest chalet in Switzerland she is asking for as well.
Just to put it into perspective for you, for the amount of money she is requesting per month, a person could:
1. Buy a 2010 Bentley convertible
2. Pay for four years of education at a private university
3. Pay the annual salary for a cardiothoracic surgeon (heart and lung)
4. Buy approximately 233,613 Macca’s cheeseburgers
Although I’m not sure what you would do with that many cheeseburgers, but if they went bad, you could always afford to buy more.
To say money corrupts is possibly a bit of an understatement. In 2008, American professional basketball player Kobe Bryant was discovered to be having an affair. As part of his “apology” to his scorned wife, he bought her a ring valued at $4,000,000; and in her acceptance of it, she lost all credibility as said scorned wife. I guess money really can buy love...for some.
But on the other hand, we really have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. Maybe the wife is seeking such a payout as payback for her husband having numerous affairs or maybe he hated her cooking... or worse, he got around the house in tube socks and Speedos; you just never know.
Not that any of those things make it OK to squeeze someone for money but unfortunately, for some, it levels the playing field.
As of this writing, the judge has denied her request for the outrageous monthly allowance and given her a lump sum of $375,000 until later this year when there is a full hearing. I’m hopeful she can make it until then on that meagre amount.
I guess it goes to show that the Oompa Loompa’s in Charlie and the Chocolate factory may have been right when they said, “If you’re not greedy you will go far, you will live in happiness too...like the oompa...loompa, doompity do.”

See I'm not the only one that thinks a huge amount of cash is a cure-all! I'd like to try it and see if I'm right but no one will sponsor my experiment
