East Texas Yamboree
Amateur Photography Contest
We've lived in Upshur County, Texas for about eight years now, and though we always attend the annual county fair, known as the East Texas Yamboree, I've never entered anything in any of the competitions. As I've taken an interest in digital photography, I decided to enter in the photography contest this year.
I had a really hard time deciding which photos to enter, so I let my family decide. The sub-divisions are nature, animals, portraits/human interest, landscape/waterscape, and architecture. My family chose ten of my photos for me to enter, and I'm excited to say that I won a 2nd place ribbon in the nature category and a 3rd place ribbon in the animal category. (Cash prizes totaling $15 paid back 1/2 of the $30 in entry fees!) I didn't enter expecting to win anything, so I'm just glad that I entered. It was really fun.
Here are my winning photographs.
If you're ever in or near Upshur County, Texas (Gilmer) the third weekend of October, be sure to come by and check out the East Texas Yamboree!
